Trump again mistakes Obama for Biden, corporate media completely ignores it

Well, this is embarrassing. At a rally in Virginia over the weekend, presidential candidate Donald Trump once again made a serious error midway through a rambling speech. This time, the Donald somehow again mixed up Barack Obama and Joe Biden, saying, “Putin has so little respect for Obama.”

Trump, however, didn’t even try to correct his mistake. The crowd reportedly went silent after the mix-up, apparently trying to figure out what the hell he was talking about. It’s at least the 8th time Trump has mixed up the two.

It’s just the latest (as of this writing) in a string of serious errors by the 77-year-old presidential candidate—including recently confusing Nancy Pelosi and Nikki Haley—that’s gone largely ignored by corporate media outlets. Trump later said he’s making all these errors on purpose. Right.

One media critic noted back in January that frightening mistakes like these should be leading every newscast, yet the media is downplaying them. Critics say that in their quixotic attempt for “unbiased” coverage, corporate media is unfairly elevating Biden’s gaffes, while ignoring Trump’s. 

Meanwhile, this bias for being “unbiased” is having a staggering effect. A new poll from the New York Times over the weekend found that 61% of voters think Biden is too old to be president, while only 42% think Trump is too old—despite the fact that both men are only four years apart in age.

Harris calls for temporary ceasefire as Israel pushes Gaza to the brink of famine

Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a stern rebuke to Israel yesterday, calling for an immediate, temporary ceasefire given the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Speaking in Selma, Alabama, to commemorate the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, Harris said there were “no excuses” for Israel not to increase the flow of aid to Palestinians.

It’s some of the strongest criticism yet of Israel from the Biden Administration. The move came right before Harris and other top Biden officials were set to meet with a centrist member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s war cabinet later today, who is coming despite not having the “permission” of the prime minister.

The criticism also comes just a day after the U.S. began air dropping aid into Gaza following the massacre of over 100 people who were waiting for aid.

The U.N. has been warning for the last week that Gaza is on the brink of famine, which has a rather technical definition. The Washington Post has a good breakdown of how Israel is preventing life-saving aid from getting into Gaza. The situation is dire in the north, where some families are surviving on grass and animal feed.

Since 1946, Israel has received nearly $300 billion in U.S. taxpayer money, the vast majority of that going to Israel’s military. Progressives have pushed to tie aid to the country to human rights guarantees, a move Israeli-sponsored senators have rejected.
