CNN is becoming a joke

In a moment that perfectly sums up the sorry state of mainstream media in 2025, CNN’s Jake Tapper is now claiming the alleged “cover-up” of Biden’s declining health might be “worse than Watergate.”

That had us asking—is he living in a different reality?

SOME BACKGROUND: Last week, Tapper released a heavily promoted book claiming there was a “cover-up” inside the Biden White House to hide the president’s declining health.

• Of course, the word “cover-up” is doing a lot of heavy lifting—just about everybody in America could see Biden’s health was declining.

That hasn’t stopped Tapper from shamelessly hawking his book, giving interviews to anyone who’ll listen. Including, somehow, Piers Morgan—a disgraced TV host now clinging to relevance across the Atlantic.

WHAT TAPPER SAID: When asked about the book’s Watergate comparison, Tapper doubled down: Biden’s supposed “cover-up,” he said, was “maybe even worse than Watergate… because Richard Nixon was in control of his faculties when he wasn’t drinking.”

• The outrageous comment came just days after Tapper claimed to another disgraced TV host, Megyn Kelly, that “conservative media was right” about Biden.

ZOOM OUT: In no way is Biden’s declining health comparable to Watergate.

• Nixon orchestrated a criminal conspiracy to cover up his staff’s burglary of their political opponents’ headquarters.

His actions shook the very foundation of law and order this country is built on. Biden had a bad debate night.

BOTTOM LINE: Tapper’s remarks reveal just how desperate CNN is to look “balanced” while the country continues its slow march towards authoritarianism.

• As a convicted felon sits in the Oval Office dismantling democratic institutions, deporting his enemies, and enriching himself through kickbacks and crypto, CNN’s top anchor is laser-focused on the last guy’s age.

This isn’t journalism, it’s performance—and we’re all worse off because of it.

What’s hidden in Trump’s budget bill is terrifying

Trump has dubbed it his “big, beautiful bill”—and at over 1,000 pages long, big is certainly one word for it.

• But buried beneath its tax breaks for the rich and cruel cuts to Medicaid and food assistance are two provisions that should terrify anyone who cares about democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

If passed, Trump’s budget would strip federal courts of their ability to enforce orders—and give him billions to carry out the largest deportation operation in U.S. history.

THE DETAILS: Trump’s bill would supercharge his immigration crackdown with more than $140 billion in new funding—an unprecedented sum that would reshape border policy for a generation.

According to one breakdown, included in the bill is:

• $46.5 billion to build and expand border walls, even in cities and protected lands that don’t want them

• $45 billion to vastly expand ICE detention, quadrupling its capacity and locking up over 100,000 people at a time in privately run facilities with a history of abuse.

• $15 billion earmarked for deportation logistics—including flights to remove children and families

• $16.2 billion to recruit and retain thousands of new Border Patrol and ICE agents.

And Trump would hand $12 billion to states like Texas to retroactively fund crackdowns like Operation Lone Star, which jailed migrants for “trespassing” and pushed families back into the Rio Grande.

This isn’t just enforcement—it’s escalation on a scale the U.S. has never seen.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE: Even more alarming is what the bill would do to the courts.

• Tucked deep in the text is a provision that would block federal judges from enforcing their own rulings if no financial “security” was posted alongside the order.

That sounds obscure—but legal experts say it would make it nearly impossible for judges to hold Trump or his officials in contempt if they defy the law.

ZOOM OUT: Right now, Trump is ignoring multiple court orders related to unlawful deportations. Judges have threatened contempt, but if this bill passes, they won’t be able to act.

• Without the power to enforce rulings, the judiciary becomes powerless. One legal scholar put it bluntly: “Judicial orders are meaningless.”

With this one bill, Trump is trying to build a mass-deportation regime—and crown himself untouchable.

BUT BUT BUT: It’s not too late to stop this bill. The legislation passed the House by only a single vote, and it’s meeting an uncertain fate in the Senate.

• Call your senators—especially if you live in a red state—and demand that they stand up to this immoral bill.

Authoritarianism won’t come to America all at once. It will be a slow and steady drip. Stopping this budget is one important way we can slow Trump and his cronies down.
